Château des Ducs de Joyeuse

Well we have to start here with Château des Ducs de Joyeuse!

So this was our home base while we explored southern France.

I still don’t know how to pronounce this Chateau– {And I had to copy/paste. lol.}

But Château des Ducs de Joyeuse  is a jewel! Gorgeous. Everything is spectacular. And don’t get me started on the food. DSC_3420I miss it!

Best meal: Duck. YEP!

We fell in love with the staff. DSC_5428

Aren’t they so sweet!

And pretty good at understanding all our

“Coca Cola Light” requests.

Isabel and Vincent are the BEST! They go above and beyond. My hubby and I are still laughing over Vincents cute offer for his “torch” when we decided to go out to the pool late one night. Warren and I totally thought he was going to bring us a fire lit torch. Nope. Flashlight. haha And then he said the cutest thing EVER. – “Ahhhh- you want to be ‘mystic’.” {in a french accent mind you}

This is Peter and Anneke who joined us on the tour. They live there in the cutest little southern village close to the Chateau.

They run Barinca Travel & Tourism and are pretty much the know-alls of the area.

So the first night there we had our traditional welcome meeting. Steve gave a wonderful introduction to our trip as there were hugs, toasts, and gifts passed out by the wonderful Brad and Kathleen.

It was so fun to see old faces and welcome new ones!

Enjoy these pics! And here we go…..!

A random thought inside Taisley’s head: I can’t believe the Fleur de lis pattern is still around! { Look at the wallpaper!} It was traditionally used to represent French royalty BACK IN THE DAY- But you can run over to Hobby Lobby RIGHT NOW and see it all over! Some GREAT things stay in fashion for a very very long time.
